EMC buys IsilonEMC buys Isilon

We continue with the large acquisitions. This is the turn of EMC on Isilon, a large entity known to most as a storage system vendor, acquires Isilon, which we talked about in 2008, a strong reality in cluster storage systems.

The growth in the demand for scalability in storage, not only in the amount of data that can be stored, but also and above all in the performance of IO on disks and network access, focuses on cluster storage systems, most of which were born from the open source world.

A couple of years ago HP bought LeftHand Network, now EMC buys Isilon Systems with 2.25 billion dollars and intends to include these systems in the Atmos division dedicated to storage for private and public cloud environments.

A good move by EMC, even if the Isilon architecture provides InfiniBand systems between clusters for data replication, this can lead to slightly more expensive investments for buyers.
